Our Cause

For more than a decade, an ongoing charitable initiative has brought together customers, employees, athletes, community members, and nonprofit organizations in support of people and families affected by breast cancer. What began with a personal connection to the disease developed into a long-term effort focused on fundraising, community participation, charitable partnerships, cancer research, and patient support. Through special campaigns, dedicated products, fundraising events, and charitable contributions, the initiative continues to provide resources to organizations working to improve research, treatment, care, and support for individuals affected by breast cancer.

The origins of this initiative are connected to the experience of a member of the company community whose diagnosis had a lasting influence on those around her. Before facing breast cancer, she had already developed a strong connection with endurance sports and understood the importance of persistence, preparation, and maintaining determination through difficult circumstances. Her background as a marathon runner and cyclist provided a personal understanding of physical challenge and recovery. Her experience with cancer introduced another dimension to those ideas and became an important source of inspiration for a broader community effort.

In October 2014, she was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer. Throughout her treatment and personal journey, she continued to approach each day with determination and an emphasis on making a meaningful difference. Her attitude affected colleagues, friends, athletes, and other members of the surrounding community. Rather than allowing the diagnosis to define every part of her life, she continued to demonstrate resilience, connection, and concern for others. Her experience ultimately helped inspire a charitable program created to honor her and support organizations working in breast cancer research and patient care.

The initiative was formally established in 2015 in her honor. From its earliest stages, the purpose was to create a continuing source of financial and community support rather than a short-term awareness campaign. Early charitable relationships included organizations involved in cancer research, medical treatment, and patient services. Through these partnerships, the program began creating opportunities for customers, employees, athletes, and supporters to participate in fundraising while helping direct resources toward organizations working to address breast cancer.

As the program developed, its activities expanded to include charitable donations, special product collections, fundraising events, community programs, and partnerships with cancer-focused institutions. These activities have created different ways for people to participate according to their interests and circumstances. Some supporters contribute through purchases, while others participate in athletic events, fundraising campaigns, community gatherings, or direct charitable giving.

Endurance events have played an important role in the development of the initiative. Participation in cycling and other community activities has helped connect the program’s focus on movement and recovery with fundraising for cancer research and patient services. Employees, athletes, friends, and supporters have come together through these events to recognize the personal story behind the initiative while contributing to a broader charitable purpose.

Team-based fundraising has also provided an opportunity for individuals to participate collectively. Participants can combine their personal efforts with those of colleagues and members of the wider community, creating a shared experience around fundraising and awareness. These activities demonstrate how athletic participation can be used as a platform for community engagement and charitable support.

The initiative has also extended beyond a single geographic region. Support has been provided to cancer-focused organizations in different countries and communities, including institutions involved in research, treatment, patient care, and related services. Supporting organizations in multiple locations allows the charitable effort to address breast cancer through a wider range of programs and provides opportunities to contribute to institutions serving different patient populations.

The individual whose experience inspired the initiative passed away in May 2019 after living with breast cancer. Her story remains an important part of the program’s history and continues to provide context for its emphasis on perseverance, compassion, community involvement, and meaningful action. The ongoing initiative serves as a way to recognize her influence while continuing to support organizations dedicated to breast cancer research and care.

Fundraising remains a central part of the program. Over time, contributions generated through campaigns, products, events, and community participation have provided substantial financial support to cancer-related organizations. The overall impact of a charitable program is built through the combined efforts of many participants. Individual purchases, donations, fundraising activities, and community contributions can collectively provide resources for research programs, patient services, education, treatment initiatives, and other areas of need.

Special footwear collections provide another way for customers to participate. Qualifying products associated with the charitable initiative may be connected to contributions supporting breast cancer research or related programs. These collections allow customers to purchase footwear while also taking part in a broader charitable effort. Specific donation terms, eligible products, and contribution details may vary depending on the particular campaign or product offering.

The charitable footwear collection also reflects a broader connection between comfort, movement, and recovery. Recovery can take many forms, and for people dealing with serious illness, it may involve far more than physical considerations. Medical treatment, emotional support, family assistance, scientific research, access to healthcare resources, and community connections can all play important roles in the experience of patients and their families. The initiative seeks to recognize these broader dimensions by supporting organizations working across different areas of breast cancer care.

Community involvement remains an important part of the program. Customers may participate through qualifying purchases, employees may contribute through fundraising activities, and athletes and supporters may participate in organized events. Charitable organizations and research institutions contribute through their work in scientific investigation, medical treatment, patient support, education, and advocacy. Each group contributes in a different way, creating a network of participation around a shared charitable purpose.

The initiative is intended to continue beyond a single month, campaign, or annual event. Breast cancer research requires sustained investment, while patients and families may need support throughout different stages of diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and survivorship. Continuing charitable programs can help maintain awareness and provide resources to organizations working toward long-term improvements in research and patient care.

Every contribution represents an opportunity for individuals to participate according to their own circumstances. Some people may choose to purchase a qualifying product, while others may take part in a fundraising event, share information, make a donation, or support a related community activity. The variety of participation methods allows people to contribute in ways that are practical and meaningful to them.

The program also recognizes the many people who contribute to breast cancer support and research, including patients, families, caregivers, healthcare professionals, researchers, volunteers, athletes, employees, nonprofit organizations, and community supporters. Their combined efforts help sustain programs designed to improve understanding of breast cancer, advance scientific research, strengthen patient services, and provide meaningful resources to affected communities.

The continuing charitable effort was shaped by one person’s experience but has grown through the involvement of many others. What began as a response to a personal connection with breast cancer developed into a broader program involving customers, employees, athletes, nonprofit organizations, research institutions, and communities. Through fundraising, charitable partnerships, product-related giving, and community participation, the initiative continues to support efforts focused on breast cancer research and patient care.
